The DiWA Center harnesses data science and collaboration to strengthen public health in Mindanao, uniting experts and partners through its Fellows & Affiliates Program to drive innovation and resilience.
The DiWA Center at the University of the Philippines Mindanao is dedicated to enhancing public health resilience in Mindanao by leveraging expertise in mathematical modeling, data analytics, and genomics.
As a regional hub of the UP Resilience Institute, the DiWA Center collaborates with experts, local government units, agencies, and academic institutions to address health data gaps and improve disease management strategies.
In line with its mission, the DiWA Center established the Fellows & Affiliates Program to foster collaboration, leadership, and scientific excellence in addressing public health challenges.

The program is open to professionals and researchers with significant contributions to health research, data science, and public health innovation. Fellows may be local or international experts who actively support DiWA Center’s mission through collaborative projects, research, and capacity-building activities.

Who can apply to become a Fellow or Affiliate?
Fellows:
At least a Bachelor's Degree holder.
Has collaborated with the DiWA Center on at least one project, program, internship, or equivalent initiative.
Open to anyone with significant contributions to health research or data science.
At least two (2) years of relevant R&D experience.
Must have implemented at least one (1) R&D program or project as principal investigator, co-investigator, project staff, or equivalent.
At least one (1) ISI/Scopus-indexed publication in a journal or conference proceeding as a sole author or co-author.
Affiliates:
At least a Master’s Degree holder.
Must be employed within the UP System.
Has collaborated with the DiWA Center on at least one project, program, internship, or equivalent initiative.
At least two (2) years of relevant R&D experience.
Must have implemented at least one (1) R&D program or project as principal investigator, co-investigator, project staff, or equivalent.
At least one (1) academic or technical publication (e.g., journal article, conference proceeding, or project report).
How do I apply?
Fellows: Submit an application form, CV, letter of interest, and supporting documents when applications are announced.
Affiliates: Candidates are usually nominated and invited by DiWA Center, but must still submit an application form, CV, portfolio, and supporting documents.
What is the selection process?
Both applications are reviewed by the Selection Committee, endorsed to the Center Director, and finalized through email confirmation with next steps and required legal documents.

Members gain opportunities for research collaboration, networking with experts, and recognition as contributors to advancing health resilience and data-driven solutions in Mindanao.
