We provide advanced tools that track public health trends through interactive dashboards, maps, and data insights, enabling smarter, data-driven public health strategies in Mindanao. The DiWA Center currently has two main projects: the DiWA App and Rabdash, powered by different tools and platforms.
Mindanao-based data-driven health disease surveillance system
The DiWA App is an advanced public health platform designed to assist disease surveillance and inform decision-making through data analytics and visualization tools. It uses statistics and thematic maps to uncover insights, track health trends, and guide public health strategies.
Additionally, its vaccination module provides a Decision Support System for optimal vaccine allocation and COVID-19 rollout strategies. At the same time, the phylogenomics tool offers detailed visualizations of genetic diversity, phylogenetic relationships, and transmission dynamics to bolster research and response efforts. It has also recently been upgraded to accommodate Mpox trends and surveillance across different provinces, enhancing its role in monitoring other relevant infectious diseases.
A rabies analytics dashboard towards a rabies-free 2030
Launched on September 1, 2022, the RabDash DC project uses data and research to build a rabies dashboard with predictive tools and genome analysis, helping improve and strengthen local rabies control programs. Funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) and implemented by the University of the Philippines Mindanao, RabDash DC works in collaboration with the City Veterinarian’s Office and the Philippine Genome Center Mindanao.
Building on the milestones of its predecessors—STOP Rabies (2018–2020) and RabCast (2021–2022)—the project brings together experts from biomathematics, economics, human health science, and veterinary medicine in a strong interdisciplinary effort.
