2023 UPRI-DIWA Strategic Planning

The UP Resilience Institute (UPRI) recently engaged in a pivotal 2-day Strategic Planning Workshop from October 29 to 30, 2023, hosted at UP Mindanao. The workshop centered on UPRI's groundbreaking initiative—the establishment of the country's first Health Resiliency Hub, the Center for Disease Watch and Analytics (DiWA). The primary objective of this gathering was to ensure seamless alignment between DiWA's goals and UPRI's mandates.

The workshop convened a diverse array of key stakeholders, including UP Mindanao's Chancellor, Prof. Lyre Anni E. Murao, and Vice Chancellor for Administration, Asst. Professor Leo Manuel B. Estaña. Additionally, UPRI division directors, namely Prof. Alfredo Mahar Francisco Lagmay, Ph.D. (participating via Zoom), Prof. Genaro Cuaresma, Prof. Ruben M. Gamala, Prof. Likha Minimo, Ph.D., and Prof. Glecy Atienza, Ph.D., contributed their expertise and insights to the discussions.

The session was further enriched by the presence of various office representatives, including Romeo Marcus L. Rosales, Franklin Joshua Gali, April Dawn F. Tegelan, Patricia Anne S. Delmendo, Hazel M. Victoriano, Jerzyne Anne A. Corpuz, Daffodil C. Cleto, Flordeliz Agra, Jose Abraham C. Ongkiko, and Jonathan David M. Maligalig, among others, who actively participated in shaping the strategic direction of DiWA.

Together with the dedicated members of the DiWA team, these stakeholders engaged in fruitful discussions aimed at charting a clear and impactful path forward for the Health Resiliency Hub. Through collaborative planning and shared vision, the workshop underscored UPRI's commitment to advancing health resilience and enhancing the nation's capacity to respond effectively to disease outbreaks and public health emergencies.

As UPRI continues to lead the charge in fostering resilience across various sectors, the establishment of DiWA represents a significant milestone in the institute's journey towards building a more resilient and prepared Philippines. With the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved, UPRI remains steadfast in its mission to drive positive change and safeguard the well-being of all Filipinos.
